About Us

Our story together started in 2006 where we met at school and since then we have grown as two strong-willed and independent people but choosing to follow the path of life together.

Ever since getting married in 2013, we have been doing things unconventionally. For our honeymoon, we decided to travel through Eastern Europe by train. Rather than sunbathing on a beach, we explored the Transylvanian Mountains and stayed in a hut with a Romanian family that barely spoke English. This was the first of many adventures on the road together.

Our first home together was in Cyprus where we lived for a total of 3 years. Living in Cyprus gave us the opportunity to explore the Middle East and the Mediterranean regions. Living overseas has shown us how exciting and important travel is to our life. Throughout our time together we have explored the world whenever we have time off work, mostly away from the beaten track.

The start of Cycling Two

In 2017 we decided to make a big change in our lives. Keen to explore the world before the reality of being fully fledged adults took hold, we both handed in our notices to our employers and started planning an epic cycle tour.

Adam was employed as a British Military Officer and Lucia a Primary School teacher. Both of these jobs have allowed us to hand in our notice with 12 months warning and start planning (and saving) for an epic cycle tour.

Adam is an experienced cycle tourist after a number of expeditions in Europe. Most of these have been either alone or with friends. He is accustomed to travelling for long periods of time in remote areas, be it with his job as an Army Officer or on trekking expeditions to the Himalaya Mountains in Nepal or Simien Mountains in Ethiopia.

Lucia, however, has done nothing as physically challenging or adventurous as this. When she agreed to go on a year-long cycle tour, she was a complete cycle touring novice.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” (or peddle stoke!)

We will face different challenges on the road but we are hoping that by facing these challenges together we will both grow as individuals and as a couple.

But why would we take the risk of quitting our comfortable jobs for a cycle tour?

  • To create and live by the values that we will hold for the rest of our lives.
  • To embrace minimalism.
  • For the physical and mental challenge to push our comfort zones.
  • For the first time since we have been married, spending unbroken quality time together.
  • To explore and experience different cultures.
  • To travel deliberately and slowly.
  • To inspire others to embrace adventure.
  • To live the life that we want to live and reject the expectations society places on us.

We have started this blog 6 months before heading off on our cycle tour as the journey has already started. The moment we handed in our notices our mindset had changed. We have started selling our possessions and are preparing to spend a year on the road with our bikes.

Follow our journey as we prepare to head off on our first cycle tour together in September 2018. In the meantime, we will be selling the majority of our possessions and leaving our home in Cyprus before flying to Singapore to start our adventure.
